A Day of Excitement

Today, I was going to meet up with my friend and watch as he flew his model R/C helicopter. I chatted earlier with my friend about his model, and he told me stories and how it was to fly and build these models. He told me so much that he got me to want to come see him fly his R/C helicopter. I was wondering how it was going to look, fly, sound when I see this model. Since I had to drive to the air field, along the way I was going to pick up my other friend, since I had told her about the R/C helicopters, and almost everything that my friend with the model told me about.

I struggled to get out of the house as my mom always tries to feed me. I got loose from her, and got on the road. While on the road, i remembered that i was supposed to get some foldable seats, and had to turn around and head about home. When I got home and found the seats, I rusted but onto the road and gave a call to my friend that I was going to be in front of her house soon, and then gave a call to my friend with the model to see if he was waiting for me at the field yet. He didn’t pick up, so I just drove fast to pick my friend up and head to the air field.

I kept thinking about helicopters and never witnessed a helicopter flying in front of me so close especially a remote control version of a helicopter. Helicopters and planes really interest me, and always wanted to become a pilot. The closest I ever came to the feel of flying was on a commercial airliner, or riding on roller coasters and feeling the G-forces. I love the G-force feel on my body, and really want to get into a really plane and fly it myself and do some crazy flying. Hopefully I will get my licence to fly, and enjoy the ride.

It was still early in the morning, nice and warm outside and was a perfect day to just hang around and enjoy anything outside. After picking my friend up and driving to the air field, we finally arrived and quickly found parking on the side of the field. I got out and ran onto the field and searched for my friend with his helicopter. I couldn’t spot him anywhere, till I gave him a call and found out that he is still was on the road. I pulled out my seats that I forgot about, but got when I ran back home, and just unfolded both for me and my friend to sit and wait. Since I was so excited, I couldn’t sit.

Eventually after he arrived, I jumped with excitement and ran to help him with his model helicopter. I carried some of the equipment as he pulled out his helicopter and carried it to the spot. I watched as he prepared and started the helicopter up and started to fly it around the field. I was amazed and shocked all at the same time for that moment while I tried to keep my eyes on the helicopter. It felt like time or everything else really didn’t mattered. I really wanted to get a helicopter like that so bad, and fly it. My other friend that I bought along pulled out her camera and started to record the helicopter flying. She was also amused and enjoyed watching as my friend started to pull off tricks with his helicopter. The R/C helicopter was just taking over the sky in the air field as it was flying everywhere really fast.

From this day, I decided to get into the hobby of flying model R/C helicopters. They are quite expensive, but for now this is the closest I can get into flying. Hopefully I will go to aviation school, and learn more about helicopters, and planes, and get my wings to fly.

Comparison Contrast Essay

Two likes of mine that I will be comparing, will be snowboarding and mountain biking.
I choose these two, because its just two of many things I like to do and would want to compare for this assignment. These are both fun and dangerous, yet I enjoy every year during a certain time in the seasons. I try to go when possible and also try bring friends to have more fun. As a group, we try to compete with each other and try to see who’s crazier, and will own everyone else. Both take a lot of energy and need experience, and need to be fit to go more extreme.
Snowboarding Mountain Biking
A.Extreme sport Outdoors, in the mountains
A.Extreme Sport Outdoors
B.Winter sport
B. Any season sport
C. Winter clothing, Board, Boots, Goggles, Gloves, Protective Gear
C. Season clothing, bike, and other gear that you would want to carry (backpack for tools, water,....)
D. Mountain snow slopes
D. Mountain Trails, Forests, Anywhere to ride and explore
E.Terrane Park (jumps, rails,....)
E. Anywhere that you can build jumps or hit different terrain
F. Expensive sport (mountain tickets, transportation, equipment,...)
F. Expensive Equipment (bike)
G. Protective Gear (helmet, wrist guards, goggles, knee pads)
G. Protective Gear (helmet, goggles or glasses, gloves, shin guards, elbow pads)
H. Very fast and dangerous sport, terrane park and steep slopes especially, which I ride often
H. Matters to the terrain I am riding, but still dangerous and extreme

Week 2 Assignment EDUC-108

1. Write a topic sentence from the story
Word from the Advised to leave to safer grounds as some decide to ride out the storm, only ending up to face their own demises.

2. What reading strategies are you doing to understand the hurricane article?
I used my own interest and understanding in hurricanes, but also to break down the important facts, and to figure out the out come of this article. But also to go more into detail, I have read then re-read for the main idea and the causes. I also looked for where, who is being affected by this hurricane, but also what and how they are trying to prepare and what safety measures they are using to survive, and save lives. Also, since I love to read about hurricanes and their power, how they develop, and the problems they cause. Since this is hurricane season,  we have to keep a close eye out and to help prepare people for evacuations if needed. Here is also another interesting fact about hurricanes

3. What details support the story?
I have found a few details that support the story,

-"Chertoff also urged not to succumb to"hurricane fatigue," referring to concerns that authorities were overestimation Ike's potential impact. Unless you're fatigued with living, I suggest you want to take seriously a storm of this size and scale"

-"Farther inland, about 100,000 residents in low-lying areas surrounding Houston began evacuating Thursday afternoon as Ike headed for the Texas coast, officials said. But the remaining 4 million residents were told they could stay home, even as government offices and schools prepared to close Friday in Houston in anticipation of the hurricane. "We are only evacuating areas subject to a storm surge," said Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, the county's chief executive officer. "Yes, we know you will lose electricity. But you're not in danger of losing your life, so stay put."

-"The advisory summined memories of the language used to describe 2005's Hurricane Katrina, which devastated parts of the U.S. Gulf Coast..."

Some opinions of mine that I have of this story is that, people should evacuate for their own protection. Insurance can cover for your property and belongings, but insurance can't bring back life. Hurricanes are no joke, and storm like these are dangerous, and should be taken with extreme caution. I can give only a good example of a recent hurricane that wasn't well predicted the out come of such hurricane, ex. Hurricane Katrina, and other hurricanes.

My Study Style

I have a Study Style that helps me with my work at school. This Study Style is what I am doing now. I am not sure if this may work with other people, but it works for me and works for some other people because this is used by some people I know and advised by some teachers.

My Style is listen and imagining what I am listening or reading about. If I can't imagine what is going on, I can't focus on it, and daze off. It is important that I know what I am thinking about, and also some other things like, is it interesting, is it difficult or easy to understand. But imagining isn't the only thing that I have to help me study. I also try to rewrite my notes or important facts, that I try to remember. But this style only works when I am in the mood, or have my mind working to learn something new.

I normally think a lot and can easily drift off and get interested about something else easily. For me to get back into my studies, I need to get something else done first to get back into studying for school. It is hard me to study for school because school is 2nd for me, since I do so much other stuff. School comes 1st to me when I am learning some material that is actual important to me and I need to complete something. Some examples would be like sciences, some English, and math (very important). Other subjects I can't focus in and I normally do poorly in. Best way for me to pass, I would have a study partner and make it fun to learn about that subject.

But none of this comes easy because Studying for me means I need to sacrifice time, and I need time. I need the time because everything that I do takes a lot of time. Some example is computers (takes a lot of time), school (too much waste of time at school, unless I am doing something productive), and some other things.

I will try to edit more in the future...

Introducing Myself

My name is Christopher, but I am mostly known as Chris or Polish Chris. I live in Queens, and soon to be moving to my own apartment in a year or so. I go to college now, to NYIT and studying a career in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I also have a job, I work at Master Renovation, which is owned by my father. I have a few different positions and work as the IT person and basically dealing with all the computers, networking, CNC machine and also drafting.

I started to work for my father after high school 2007. So I took a 1 year break from school, and decided to work for a bit and get into the game of working. In that 1 year, I have learned so much, and have a wide verity of career chooses for my future, especially with the career I will be learning in college, I have so many options and opportunities to figure out for my future. I have still much to learn, and would love to learn it all, but there is little time so I need to work as fast as possible. I hope soon I will take over the business, and also open up a few sub-businesses or create different departments for different stuff, and hopefully get this business expanded and improved with all of today's modern technology.

Other then working, I have a passion in also everything, and is difficult for me to choose what I want to really do. But because engineering comes with ease to me, engineering is the path I am taking. Hopefully in the future, I will want to complete Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Telecommunications, Programming, Everything that deals with the Web Designing to Servers and maybe more.

Ever since I was a kid, I have had passions to do stuff, and still do till today. I still have a passion to become a physicist, and love physics. But getting into that would be awesome, to deal with huge experiments, and just go large for me. I also wanted to become a Pilot and fly Jet Fighters and Helicopters. I want to go extreme and fast! Also, I had opportunities back then, and wrote to NASA, and also wanted to become a Astronaut and fly to space. Sometimes I think about just being the Pilot to fly to and from space, or maybe to other planets. But if I don't get to fly anywhere, well then I want to build robots, and send them to different planets and have them setup environments on the planets for humans to survive on.

I myself right now want to get into robotics so bad to learn, design, build, and program robots. I am trying today to get into clubs and/or organizations, and get into robotics, and definitely can't wait for the challenges. Hopefully also, that I get sponsored and get money to build and experiment on robots and material for the robots to send to other planets that have harsh environments. But then this scares me because I will need to study Chemistry Engineering and learn to build molecules, to design and build new material that isn't on earth, but will with stand everything else, and maybe more.
